The thing is, in the early 2000s Games Workshop stopped supporting the third edition of Blood Bowl. ![]() With each subsequent edition, in 19, the quality of these miniatures has only gotten better and better. The second edition of Blood Bowl came out in 1988 and brought with it a selection of plastic and metal miniatures. It instead used cardboard standees, as shown in this picture of the French edition of the game: Although the game would become known in later editions for its zany fantasy football miniatures, this first edition did not contain any metal or plastic miniatures whatsoever. First were the black orcs from the Dark Lands league, used to heavy armor, prone to aggressive bursts and hardened after playing countless seasons with the hated Chaos Dwarfs teams. ![]() The industrious goblin returned many weeks later with some rather, "exotic" greenskins. Not discouraged, he sent his headhunter Tugtig deep into the world to look for promising players in their local leagues. Sadly, he got to it a little late in the season - most players were already taken, leaving only broken, mangled and/or useless rejects. After initial successes in the new season, the head coach of Badlands Badbuttz decided to expand and recruit some new players, especially some ever-useful blockers and blitzers.
